Debbie Blakley, 49, passed through the veil to her Heavenly Father’s embrace surrounded by her family at her home on December 28, 2004, after a long and valiant battle with breast cancer.
Born Debra Dianne on January 14, 1955, to Kenneth McGee and Shirley Moncrief McGee in Fairbanks, Alaska, she was the third of four blond and bubbly daughters. She graduated from Permian High School in May 1973, and married the love of her life since ninth grade, Neil Blakley, on June 30, 1973. Neil and Debbie shared 31 years of marriage together and lovingly raised their three children with humor and devotion.
Debbie decorated her world and all those she touched with poignant beauty, grace, and design. As a master artist and muralist, she created breathtaking scenes that reflected a soul not bound by time nor space. Her home always provided inspiring samplings of her abundant talent as well as homes and businesses all over the country that have been blessed to become an enduring part of her legacy-some of which have been featured in Texas Monthly and. Better Homes and Gardens
Her art led her many directions throughout her career. Trained by the FBI, she was one of the very few and very elite composite artists that have been awarded a Federal Grant to work with various Texas police departments, particularly the Odessa Police Department, in solving numerous high profile cases. She was a nationally known courtroom artist and was even a feature story on Entertainment Tonight for her coverage of the Zsa Zsa Gabor trial.
In spite of her notoriety and high demand, Debbie never lost her love for simplicity. Life’s greatest pleasures were her family and friends. “The more the merrier,” she regularly said and no one could know Debbie and not adore her.
Debbie was preceded in death by both her parents. Among the great many who will miss her terribly are her husband, Neil Blakley of Wimberley; her daughter and son-in-law, Shelley and Byron Geyman of Austin; her sons, Clint Blakley of Houston and Bryan Blakley of Brady; and her sisters, Linda McCann and family of Tyler, Donna Walker and family of Odessa, and Pam White of Houston. Her family by marriage, Dennis Shirk and family of Kingston, Oklahoma, Brenda Sullivan and family of Mustang, OK, and Lanis Carlson and family of Midland.
Services will be held Friday, December 31, 2004, at Thomason Funeral Home in Wimberley with burial at Onion Creek Memorial Park in Austin, TX. Memorials may be sent to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston

I think I first met Debbie at Crockett. I saw her, I believe at our 15 year reunion and chatted with her for a while. I found out she had become an FBI trained forensic artist and had worked with several law enforcement agencies. Someone told me later she had painted the beautiful mural at the Taco Bell in Midland. Very talented artist and overall sweet person. I sure hated to hear of her passing. Another one gone too soon.

I remember Gary from Crocket Jr High...he was always so nice...I can't remember what class we had together, and seems like it was 8th grade...he Always had Wintergreen lifesavers...always sharing! Gone too soon! Loved his smile!
I met Linda our Senior year...she always made me laugh! I remember a car she drove...it had push buttons instead of a shifter(?)...we thought it was cool!
Van was my lab partner in Biology and always agreed to do the yucky stuff because I couldn't stand dissecting. He was really sweet but I lost track of him after that.

She could laugh at anything and quite frequently herself. She had an unbroken bond with her twin, Kathy Light. Much like her beauty, she left a little piece every place she went. She was adventurous, curious, and had a vivacious soul. Those who knew her close enough would say Karen had a strong spirit, soft heart, and a humble nature. Most importantly, she would tell any listening body how proud she was of her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her four children, Jason Ward of Denton Texas, Sheila Salazar of Midland Texas, Ginger Parum of Midland Texas, and Shawna Green of Meridian Idaho; her ex-husband John Ward; her 10 grand children an two great grandchildren; Her three sisters; her two dogs Oscar and Quigly.

What can I say about Kristi? We were friends from the 8th grade at Crockett until she passed away. I am still in shock over her death as I (and many of us) had just had a conversation with her on Facebook the night before she died.
Kristi and I both lived in Houston until she moved to a suburb. We didn't see each other often after that but we always stayed in touch and we even worked near each other in Sugar Land in the early 90s and would go have lunch together.
Judy Wise (Shields) and I attended her memorial service here in Houston. Miss you dear friend.
From Brenda Stewart on June 6th, 2014
Met in Jr High (Crockett)...Kristi was always so cool! Last time I saw her was at the bar, The Other Place...we chatted a while...then reconnected with her on FaceBook...I wish I could have seen her again.
Another Crockett classmate...he was so handsome! Our moms knew one another...last time I saw Jose was when he and his girlfriend were living in Las Vegas...oh, he was still handsome!
FORT WORTH - Roy Franklin Cole was a father of two and a friend of many. He passed away suddenly on the afternoon of March 3, 2022, in Fort Worth Texas at the age of 67 after a week-long battle with COVID and pneumonia. He is survived by his twin brother Ed; siblings Billy, Susie and Annie; daughte, Christine; and his son, Christopher who was with him in his last moments.
Roy was born in the dead of night on December 13, 1954 in Midland, Texas, the first of identical twins. Born into a ranching family with a long legacy of horsemanship, his early years were spent riding and working with horses. Still in their diapers, Roy and his twin brother Ed would ride around the ranch atop Shetland ponies, helping their father work cattle. You might say that was Roy's first vehicle. He loved anything that moved, and the faster it went the happier he was. The boys grew and the horses got bigger. Roy and his siblings would spend weekends barrel racing on massive gray Quarter Horses, and using the winnings to get into trouble in and around Odessa High.
In high school Roy was introduced to the motorcycle, which became a lifelong passion of his and through which he met many of his closest friends. He raced motorcycles all through college, eventually becoming a nationally ranked rider and surviving many brushes with death along the way. No matter how hard the fall, he always got back up, even late into his 60's as he continued racing motocross. The man could not be kept down.
Roy's love of learning, of working with his hands, his sense of adventure, and his loyalty to friends were the forces that moved him into motorcycles, cars, photography, skiing, scuba, and eventually shooting, where he became an internationally recognized competitor and coach alongside his brother Ed. Roy traveled to 5 continents to compete in long range shooting matches, making friends with folks from all walks of life. It was said of Roy that he could go to almost any country in the world and have a friend waiting for him.
Between his many hobbies, Roy (somehow) found time to graduate from Texas Christian University, teach economics at the University of North Texas, then earn a Masters in International Management at Thunderbird School of Global Management in Phoenix, AZ. It was there that he met and married Ana Milena Peña, had Christopher and Christine, and spent the next few decades in their Fort Worth home, showing up to every school event then heading home to weigh out grains and reload bullets for his next Palma match.
Aside from his many adventures and accomplishments, Roy will be remembered for his altruism. His generosity spanned the world - sponsoring families in developing countries, loaning what he had to friends in need, and going out of his way to be a good neighbor. He was a Christian man who lived by the values of his faith, and in his last years was learning Hebrew in his free time. He will be missed deeply by all whose lives he blessed. May the tenacity with which he lived inspire us to live fuller, more daring lives, and have some stories to tell when we see him again.

Paula lived down the street from me for a while. My little brother died when I was a sophomore and Paula would come over and get me to go do things to keep my mind off of it. She was really a comfort to me during a difficult time and I never forgot it. Was so sad to hear of her death.

He was born in Odessa.
I met Darwin in the 2nd or 3rd grade at Austin Elemtary. He reminded me of Dennis the Menace, always pulling pranks. In later years through junior high at Crockett and then at OHS I got to know him as a really nice person. After I moved away from Odessa when I would come home to visit I would somehow always see him out somewhere and I always enjoyed seeing and talking to him at the reunions over the years. I was just crushed when I found out about his cancer and was able to speak to him on the phone several times before he passed away and the last time I talked to him was about a month before he died. He was always upbeat even when he was so ill, but that wasn't really surprising. Still miss him.
From Brenda Stewart on June 6th, 2014
Seems I knew Darwin forever...I admired Darwin...didn't matter how long it had been since last seeing him, he would always chat with me....Darwin, I miss that mischievious smile of yours!!! (you and Gary Brooks stay out of trouble). :)
I hadn't seen Ginnye since high school, but ran across her in the late 90s on the Classmates.com site and we chatted back and forth some. When Facebook came out, I added her to my friend list but we never really spoke on there and I had no idea she was battling a terminal illness. It was really sad to hear of her passing. I remember her from Crockett Jr.High and as part of a little group that used to walk to different places for lunch when we were at OHS. She was such a sweet person and a talented ballet dancer.
